Achievements

Training:

1. The Institute trained nearly 5000 students in the last 05 years.

2. The Institute of JIM&WS conducted approximately 90 courses in the last 05 years.

3. New course Search and Rescue has been launched by the Institute in 2023.

4. The capacity of the institute has been increased from 600 to 1200 trainees.

Expeditions:

1. The Institute successfully conducted 06 expeditions in this year (2024) so far - Mt Chamser (6630 Mtr) and Mt Langser (6666 Mtr), Mt Kang Yatse-I (6415 Mtr) & II (6250 Mtr), Mt Dzo Jungo-I (6307 Mtr) & II (6220 Mtr).

2. The Team of JIM&WS, for the first time in the history of Mt Chamser (6630 Mtr) & Mt Kang Yatse-II (6250 Mtr) descended on snow board from both of the peaks.

3. The Institute summitted Mt Kun (7077 Mtr) and Mt Nun (7135 Mtr) in 2023 and created following records:
a. The team took an unconventional route and achieved the fastest climb of MT Nun, completing it in four days from base camp to summit.
b. - The expedition created a record for the fastest ascent of a 7000 m peak.
c. - It successfully summited both MT Nun and MT Kun in a single attempt.

4. The Institute successfully conducted 07 expeditions in the last year (2023).

Mount Everest Expedition 2021

5. This marks the first joint expedition by two National Mountaineering Institutes (Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports and Nehru Institute of Mountaineering) to summit the Mt. Everest successfully. This expedition was undertaken during covid pandemic 2nd wave and 02 back-to-back super cyclones.

6. The Institute successfully conducted 20 expeditions in the last 05 years.

Sports:

1. Miss Shaziya Hassan (Instructor JIM&WS) participated in Khelo India Winter Games (2023-24) and bagged two silver medals in Sprint and Relay event of Ski-Mountaineering

2. Miss Bhavani who was trained by the Institute and was also Guest Instructor at JIM & WS won 01 Gold, 02 Silver medals in 1.5 Km, 10 Km and 5 Km representing home state in National Cross Country Skiing Championship-2022 held in Gulmarg. She won 01 Silver,01 Bronze medal in 105 Km and 5 Km race representing home state in All India Open Ski and Snowboard Championship-2022 held in Lahual, Himachal Pradesh. She also won 02 Silver medals in 10 Km and 5 Km National Winter Baithlon Championship-2022 held in Gulmarg.

3. For the first time in 2022, The institute of JIM&WS successfully conducted the first skiing course in Sonamarg,

4. The Institute bagged 02 Silver and 02 Bronze medals in Khelo India Winter games-2020 in Gulmarg. The Instructors of JIM & WS also bagged 01 Gold, 02 Silver and 03 Bronze Medals in Khelo India Winter Games-2021. The Institute also bagged 01 Silver medal in 1.5 Km National Winter Baithlon Championship-2021 held in Gulmarg.

5. The Institute of JIM & WS trained local youth of Aru and took them to participate in National Winter Games 2019 in Auli.
